Voices United Against Uyghur Oppression: Insights from the Symposium
By Prosperity for America • Nov 2023
This November, Prosperity for America had the honor of participating in an impactful symposium hosted by the Centre for East Turkistan National Interest in Toronto, Canada. Our representative, Tony Zielinski, joined a panel of distinguished experts to discuss a critical and pressing issue: the threat posed by Communist China and the ongoing genocide of the Uyghur population.
The symposium brought together minds from various fields, signifying the widespread concern and call for action. To Tony’s right sat Magnus Fiskesjö, a prominent figure from Cornell University, whose insights added depth to the discussion. On his left, Jeffrey Smith, Chief Security Advisor for Mayfly Consulting, provided a unique perspective on the security implications of the situation.
Further enriching the panel were Charles Burton, Senior Fellow at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and the European Values Center for Security Policy, and Rukiye Turdush, a human rights activist, writer, and researcher at the Center for East Turkistan National Interest. Their contributions underscored the diverse angles from which this issue must be approached.
The symposium delved into the harrowing history of East Turkistan’s invasion by Communist China in 1949 and the subsequent human rights atrocities, including genocide. This tragic history is not just a tale of past misdeeds but a chilling indicator of what China might have in store for the free world if left unchecked.
At Prosperity for America, we believe in bringing such critical issues to the forefront of global awareness. The symposium was a reminder of the power of collective voice and the importance of international solidarity in the face of such injustices.
We stand with the Uyghur population and all those oppressed under regimes that deny basic human rights and freedoms. As we reflect on the discussions from the symposium, we are more committed than ever to advocate for a world where freedom, justice, and prosperity are accessible to all.
Together, we can make a difference. Join us in this vital cause.
